Are Canadian Political Values Becoming Americanized?

Are Canadian Political Values Becoming Americanized? Canada and the United States might be the most outrageous instance of the little country, large neighbor disorder however when requested to point the primary contrasts between the two nations, in excess of 70 individuals from both the sides said that Canada is much the same as a sorry excuse for America. Be that as it may, what makes them cause this to perplex contention? On what premise have they concluded that they are the equivalent? Furthermore, then again for what reason wraps up of the 30% believe that they are extraordinary? Conflicting with all the chances, I might want to contradict the way that Canadian Values are turning out to be Americanized by assessing social insurance, the worldwide culture and the organized commerce understanding between the two nations. Since the mid 90s, the US has been fruitful in making a security framework for the senior individuals, a clinical assistance for the government assistance beneficiaries which can be called muddled as there was no open subsidizing in the social insurance community for the remainder of the populace. Canada then again depended on an intrinsically dug in arrangement of evening out exchanges from must have not territories to adjust generally government assistance state arrangements, while the US embraced no such methodology. . At the point when required, it is simple for Citizens of Canada to get medicinal services or needs some help from government assistance then it is effectively accessible. The United States have said that they want to have the equivalent. Alongside all inclusive medicinal services, Canadas government assistance framework is particular from the United States. As Bashevkin called attention to, Canadas stay even while the United States stay lopsided. Canada is depicted as an official political framework with various dialects and different noteworthy local bonds, where authoritative, official and legal force and control lies to a great extent in the hands of the head administrator. This on a level plane concentrated control framework permits Canadian political elites in a dominant part government to force their inclinations more promptly than officials in an evenly decentralized case like the US, where a sacred partition of forces makes various veto focuses over the three parts of government. In an all the more racially isolated society with a diffuse congressional system, American presidents are commonly incapable to order the concentrated institutional switches accessible to their Canadian partners. My next contention will state about the organized commerce contention between the two nations and its assessment. Since before Confederation, Canadas national character has been characterized to some degree by its connection boat to the United States. In Canada, this relationship has been described by troublesome pressures between professors in the monetary advantages of nearer business relations with the US and the individuals who have expected that unhindered commerce would Americanize Canada, either truly through joining the association or metaphorically as far as qualities and culture. These contentions have been especially obvious in the course of recent years, as Canada went into the Canada-US Free Trade Agreement in 1988, which was extended six years after the fact to remember Mexico for the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). Adversaries of these understandings contended that they would make positions be lost, wages to decrease, imbalance to build, Canadas national personality to be sabotaged, and the ability to fashion particular strategies to be vitiated. Defenders of facilita ted commerce guaranteed that it would cultivate colossal monetary advantages and intensely denied that it would prompt the Americanization of Canada. For Canada, globalization is viably 80 percent Americanization. That figure speaks to the level of Canadian fares that go to the United States. Obviously, it is too oversimplified to even think about reducing the mind boggling nature of US impact to exchange relations. In any case, that rate is a successful portrayal of the significance of the United States in Canadas outside relations with the world. To be sure, when one considers the social substance of the media to which Canadians are uncovered, the 80 percent figure is likely traditionalist. The primary topic of the North American incorporation explore for the Project on Trends is that the outcomes of mainland joining have not been as impressive as broadly accepted. In spite of a sharp ascent in exchange reliance because of the Free Trade Agreement and developing American strength of worldwide media, the outskirt between the two nations despite everything matters. As a matter of fact, some strategy instruments have been given up in return for access to bigger markets. What's more, pressures for harmonization do exist, and have likely in-wrinkled. In any case, Canada despite everything holds huge space to move even in the territories of strategy generally influenced by developing financial combination. (Hoberg, G. 350) The following contention is identified with Globalization and Culture. With its remarkable qualities like restricted government, an open society and Internationalism, Canada holds a position somewhere close to France and United States with regards to Cultural Politics. Much the same as India and Nepal, Canada and United States practice International Culture co-activity by drawing in themselves in bipartite and multipartite exercises. Like Kevin V. MULCAHY said that it speaks to an intriguing situation when nations like Canada-United States characterize explanations like where you sit figures out where you stand. For the United States, culture is judged for the most part to be a sidebar in the range of governmental issues among countries, as social articulation is more frequently viewed as a ware than an estimation of character. For Canada, culture is a considerably more focal worry in its reciprocal relations with the United States given this hilter kilter relationship. The International exchange understanding has truly influenced the social, political and monetary relations between the two nations, to a furthest reaches that is surprising yet the masterful arrangements of such a responsibility, the work procedure of the social area can plainly raise a discussion on this political subject of Canadian Values turning out to be Americanized. Despite the fact that Canada is delicate about its recognizable proof and lucidness, there is mindfulness and the social practices ARE given a great deal of significance. The counter contentions: Basically, the social relations of these 2 peas in a pod may have their own personality in their own dissimilar and heterogeneous ways among power and littler neighbor shared trait, their abutting populace and remembering the land state of Canada. This may finish up for some others that Cultural, Rational and Political blend of Canadian Values and Culture stand more in favor of reliance of the United States. As is regularly the situation, where a little country has a major neighbor, geographic propinquity can make unbalanced, even troublesome, social relations. (De la Garde, Gilsdorf, and Wechselmann, 1993) None of this is to propose lost Canadian political sway. However, Canada has needed to ponder a tenacious generalization of being the fifty-first American state. All things considered, expansionism (the social strength of a more grounded control over another) endures in its post-pioneer period: besides, there is a critical inquiry regarding whether political sway can be continued without social freedom and the attendant estimation of individual personality. In entirety, by what means can a particular Canadian character flourish even with an authoritative American culture? Proof Canada doesn't have that extraordinary point which goes about as a bit of leeway of separating them and giving them an edge over different nations like the United States does. For instance scarcely one percent of the motion pictures that Americans watch are remote (Mulcahy,2003). The mentality and their tremendous social decent varieties that American Industry has, stirs the reality about the Americanization of Canada. The US has plainly been commanding the Canada Free Trade understanding since the start of this new decade. The contention with the UK and US were preety much the equivalent since the mid nineteenth Century however after the Second World War there was an unmistakable increment in exchange with the US. The imports were quantifiable however the imports were substantially more from the US then it was from the UK. The universal war had plainly left a significant effect on the exchange and the financial strategies. The business sectors were crushed as 70% of the imports for Canada originated from the US. In the wake of the Free Trade Agreement, there was a sharp (15 rate point) increment in Canadas reliance on exchange with the US. In 1998, all out fares established an amazing 40 percent of GDP, with the US representing 84 percent of that complete, Or on the other hand 33 percent of GDP. In this manner, while exchange reliance was very high beforehand, the present degrees of exchange reliance, internationally and on the US specifically, are record setting. The Rebuttal Albeit little in populace, Canada is home to two significant phonetic social orders and might be unmistakably situated to intercede a worldwide social point of view that is an option in contrast to the authority of American diversion. A mixture Canadian culture, which is post-frontier, bi-lingual and multi-social, could fill in as a model for different countries that try to hold their legacy and character without withdrawing into autarchy or reliance. Like Kevin said Unlike Canada, the United States doesn't have such an unmistakable society, which Records for about 22% of its populace. As needs be, Canadian pledge to Multiculturalism has needed to oblige both individual rights and aggregate rights. In the U.S., everybody is lawfully equivalent to be American. In Canada, one is ensured the option to be Canadian, just as the option to hold ones ascriptive personality. In this sense, Canada has had huge involvement in approaches that ensure social decent variety. Canadian culture doesn't lay as vigorously on American standards of absorption and homogenization; rather, there is settlement and heterogeneity. As an expansive speculation, Canada is a social mosaic as opposed to the American mixture. Discussing the Free T

Taming Of The Shrew And The Merchant Of Venice - 1612 Words

The role of woman in the society has always been really controversial, whether it was 400 years ago or now. Shakespeares two very famous comedy plays, The Taming of the Shrew and The Merchant of Venice challenge a very serious social issue, the role and importance of woman in society. We all know the stereotypical image of woman in the society but Shakespeare questions the society on these thoughts through his plays. While Shakespeare expresses his ideas in a very unique way in each of his plays, this issue is common in both plays and is portrayed very similarly. Whether it is the way woman are treated, portrayed or judged, Shakespeare repeats the same idea through difference acts and events between the two comedies. There are some†¦show more content†¦Also, another leading character in the Merchant of Venice was controlled by her father, Jessica. But she couldnt be controlled, she eventually did what she wanted and proved to be a modern woman. Similarly, in the Taming of th e Shrew, Kate is expected to marry the man her father, Baptista chooses and she has no freedom and choice of her own will. However, in the Taming of the Shrew, Kate is also being called property by her husband, Petruchio. Petruchio says that, She is my good, my chattels, she is my house, My household stuff, my field, my barn, My horse, my ox, my ass, my anything; Not only her father but her future husband doesnt respect her and calls her everything but his wife. Almost all of the woman in Shakespeares play were treated as property, here you can see Portia and Kate, this clearly means that Shakespeare also agrees with this type of behaviour towards woman and that is why he always shows this behaviour towards the main female protagonists of the play. This type of behaviour towards woman was very common and both these plays have similarly shown how. A woman is often defined by her appearance and her fortune and her whole life revolves around these two very important features. She is married to a man that likes her beauty and finds her wealthy. Skills of Critical Reflection to Evidence †Free Samples to Students

Question: Discuss about the Skills of Critical Reflection to Evidence. Answer: Introduction: The video is about interviewing, one of an important aspect of communication. In the video, two persons are seen entering in a conference type room. One of these persons is Christine, the interviewer, who is interviewing a person. However, before starting the interview session, Christine asks if he would prefer tea or coffee. This asking refers to her ethics towards giving a warm welcome to her guests and making them comfortable to the interview. Giving a signed form to the interviewee, consisting of the reason for the interview proves apt in terms of averting any false claims regarding keeping something confidential. The form, therefore, can be said as an agent for Christine in terms of having a transparent communication with the interviewee. Providing choice regarding filling up the form reflects christines liberal approach towards the interviewer. This type of approach is apt in terms of protecting the individual sentiments of the persons. Herein, the legislation, Data Protection Act (1998) seems relevant. The appearance of Christine is apt in terms of luring the interviewee for getting the required answers. Herein, lays her capability to emerge successful in making practical applications of the learnt skills in terms of efficient execution of the allocated duties and responsibilities. Making the interviewee understanding the dynamics of the interview session enhances the personality of Christine. From the facial expressions of Christine, it seems that she patiently listens to the answers of the interviewee. This patience helps her in the development of the report regarding the interview. Delving deep into Christines expressions, it transforms according to the weightage of the answers provided by the interviewee. This is very important in terms of making the interviewee assured that the contents generated by them are being considered and valued. Eye to eye contact is an important component of interviews, which helps Christine and the interview to understand each others approaches in response to the proposed questions. Studying the approaches helps Christine to picturize the interviewee in terms of the expressions. Christine wants to know every response in details, which reflects her inquisitive nature in terms of enriching her preconceived skills, expertise and knowledge. The setting is one of the other important aspects of interview. The setting needs to be such, which helps the interviewee to concentrate on the questions, forwarded to him. The setting of the video is apt, as there are minimal furniture and books on the bookshelf. The sole presence of Christine gives confidence to the interviewee in terms of giving proper answers to the proposed questions. Christines warm gesture in the form of offering tea or coffee is flexible enough for reducing the nervousness of the interviewee. Making the interviewee sit on the chair instead of the sofa is apt in terms of luring his attention towards the questions, for which Christine needs the answers. This adds value to the aspect of face-to-face communication. The things placed on the table can be considered unnecessary. This is because many things can deviate the concentration of the interviewee. However, the interviewee in the video seemed firmed in producing the contents to the answers, which was forwarded to him by Christine. Lets take the example of the child, who works in the restaurant from morning to evening, toiling hard to serve mouth-watering delicacies to the customers, according to the orders of the owner. Being treated as a slave shatters the dreams of the 12-year-old girl regarding going to school and becoming rich. This aspect of shattering the dreams stains the individuality of the little girl. Delving deep into the issue, employing children is a punishable act. Most of the times, the children encounter tragic fates of murder, rape among others. This fate is the greatest challenge in terms of attaining academic establishment (Myers 2008). The issue of child abuse is mostly found in the threshold of United States. The statistics revealed by the United States government is striking in terms of the academic establishment of the students in the schools. As a matter of specification, every year, 3 million children get abused, adding an ombre shade to the future of the students (Childhelp.org 2017). Viewing the intensity of the issue, the United States government has made a mass appeal through the social media. The website, ChildHelp, briefs the public about the basics of child abuse, asking them to make donations for transforming the life of the victimized children (Childhelp.org 2017). The website caters to the nourishment and care of the children, who have underwent physical abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, emotional abuse among others. Governmental assistance has enabled the agencies to take care of the development of these children. Agencies such as Child Welfare Information Gateway have taken up the responsibility to protect such children from child abuse, financially assisting their families to maintain the balance in their lives. Adherence to legislations such as Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA) helps the agency personnel to provide protection and care to the children in a legal manner (Myers 2008). The law officials of the government frequently keep tracks of the services provided by the agencies to the children. One of the beneficial aspects of the governmental initiatives is the provision of free and elementary education to the children through easy admissions in the schools. For this, the personnel indulge in partnerships for achieving stability in the financial parameters (Aifs.gov.au 2017). Federal laws have been implemented for upgrading the standards of the laws and policies related to child abuse. Approvals by the state governments validate the functionalities of these agencies in terms of altering the predicament of the children, victims of abuse. Not just approvals, the state government govern the operations of the agencies regarding the provision of the required care to the abused children. These operations include the arrangements for fooding, lodging and education (Childhelp.org 2017). In all of these operations, quality is an important element. The websites are the agents for informing the public about the latest updates regarding the prevention of child abuse. Recently steps have been taken to provide every member with easy login access to the website. The volunteers keep a track of the online visitors and rank them. This ranking system helps the personnel to assess the success, which they have achieved in terms of the actions undertaken previously (Childhelp.org 2017). As the appeal is humanitarian, therefore, the stakeholders and shareholders are not pressurized for donations. Whatever they willingly give, is added to the funds. These donations are reviewed frequently for assessing the financial conditions in terms of the constructed plans for uplifting the conditions of the abused children. These funds help a lot for organizing cultural shows for the amusement of the abused children (Childhelp.org 2017). Apart from the mass appeals, the agencies collect funds through charity shows, product launches, charity matches among others. Viewing it from the other perspective, these fundraising events strengthen the bondage between the agencies and the government officials. This strength possesses flexibility for the introduction of lucrative offers and schemes for the children, who have been abused (Childhelp.org 2017). An innovative concept here is the provision of adoption. This is also according to the federal laws introduced by the state government officials. The couple, who intends to adopt any child need to produce a written statement of appeal to the in-charge of the agency, which is verified by the government officials. The grounds of verification are- citizenship of the native country, no crime records, stable income among others (Childhelp.org 2017). The case scenario mentioned here is about a person named George who is said to visit the clients of the office where he is an employee, without informing the manager about the same. This situation will be analyzed based on the AASW Code of Ethics. This body of the Code of Ethics is related to the responsibilities and values related to the profession of social work. This code is established in order to assist the social workers individually and collectively so that they can act in ways that are ethically accountable to pursue the professional aims. This case is related to the ethical guidelines numbered 3.3, which is related to Professional Integrity. The guidelines say that the needs of the organization should be given priority over the personal needs or gains. The authority or power given to the employees should be used in such a way so that it serves humanity. The professional decisions made by the person should be ethically accountable. Maintaining professional conduct is also important in this case and the person or the member should behave with responsibility and dignity. This case can be further related to the number 5.2 of the ethical guidelines of the social workers. The number 5.2.1 of the ethical guidelines mentions about the priority of the interest of the clients. In this case the interest of the client is given highest priority. George has also the highest priority to the interest of the clients, however in the process he is hurting the interest of the company. According to the ethical guideline that has been ment ioned, in this case the member needs to convince the clients that the process of fulfilling his interests may affect his safety and integrity. He should convince him in such a way so that he can take care of the interest of the client without hurting the interest of the organization of which he is a part. The member should coordinate with the other members of the organization and provide them the knowledge about the interest of the client and try to work in his interest. This is the case in which the priority of the interests of the clients are more important as compared to the interests of others. In this case George has to inform his manager about the problems related to the client. Further, he should take the initiative to solve the problems related to the client with the help of the other members of the organization. In this manner, he will work in the interest of the client as well as the organization. On the other hand, if he tries to solve the problems of the client without p roviding the information to the manager, he is ultimately taking an illegal step. This step will have a negative influence on the future career of George and further, the client may also have to face problems related to this situation. Hence, it is advisable for George to follow the ethical guidelines mentioned in the AASW Code of ethics related to the dilemma he is facing and accordingly take the right decisions related to this. According to the Code of Ethics numbered 5.4.1 the members of this body must always follow the rules and regulations that are stated by the organization in which they are working. The members need to follow the standards that is best possible to maintain the standards of their organization. The members will be held accountable for the steps taken by them and the practice that they maintain in the organization. The members need to work in such a way so that they can improve the procedures and policies of the organization. The interest of the clients needs to be taken care of by the members of the organization. In this case, George is working against the policies of the organization by visiting the clients of the organization without the knowledge of the manager. George needs to follow the mentioned guidelines and thereby try to solve the problems related to the client within the organization itself. George needs to take personal interest in the issue and further try to bring ant types of changes that are required to solve the problems related to the client and serve his interests. In this manner, George will be able to solve the problems related to the client and he is not working against the interest of the company. This analysis of the AASW Code of Ethics shows that the members of an organization can solve the clients problems by sticking to the ethics (Heinz 2014). Critical reflection It was a proud moment for me when I received the Employee of the Month award. As I was going to the stage to receive the award, I was feeling nervous. However, when I reached the stage and saw the Jury and the Board members, I was feeling more nervous. When I took the trophy in my hand, I was filled with happiness. I was feeling as if I am the best among all my colleagues. A picture was taken, which consisted of me taking the award from the hands of one of the Jury members. After coming down the stage, all of my colleagues congratulated me on my success and wanted a treat from me. I thanked them for their wishings and greetings. For reflecting on this event, I would refer to Gibbs reflective cycle. Narrating about the event in details is my consideration of the first element, Description. Thoughts, emotions and feelings, which I exposed upon receiving the award relates with the second component, Feelings. Critical reflection of the two elements results in taking stance in favor of the fact that feelings are the immediate outcome upon exposure to the events taking place around me. These feelings help me to evaluate its effectiveness and appropriateness in terms of the benchmark performance level, which I identified and specified prior to the initiation of the allocated duties and responsibilities. After evaluation, I analyzed the fact that I should have been reserved in terms of my expressions and feelings. This award is not my last award. This is just a small appreciation, which has made me realize that I need to maintain consistency in exposing better performance. As a result of this, I made short term goals at the first instance. I thought if I succeeded in achieving these goals, I would make long-term goals, which would enhance within the confidence to handle the challenging and enduring tasks, which awaits in the future times of the tenure of my employment. On the other hand, I also analyzed that my expression was appropriate in terms of being awarded suddenly. This is natural that when individuals are awarded, they are so excited that they forget all the rationality and consciousness, which they need to expose in the society for the enhancement of their personality. This in-depth analysis can be considered as my self-introspection on being praised. The previous sentence can be correlated with the element of evaluation. Taking into consideration the analysis, I concluded that I should not stop here. This award is just a simple motivation for me, to continue performing like this and attaining new heights of success. This conclusion helped me to take the decision to attend various courses on being the best employees. This decision is my action, the penultimate component of the Gibbs reflective cycle. Mere taking the decision would not yield positive results for me. I constantly need to evaluate the ways and means through which I can upgrade the standard and quality of my performance. Attending personality development courses would be an effective option for me. Along with this, if I attend Spoken English class, my preconceived communication skills would be polished. This way I could create a positive image in the minds of the foreign delegates by giving presentations in fluent English. Practicing the learnt skills in front of the mirrors would improve my confidence regarding speaking in front of a large audience. All the components of Gibbs reflective cycle are interrelated with each other. Therefore, I need to maintain the cycle in order to develop self-observation skills. On the contrary, if I stop in between, the main purpose of considering the theoretical perspective would be destroyed. This would generate negative outcomes, acting as a threat for me in terms of achieving professional and personal development. Even if I fail at some point of time, I should use that failure to reach to success, as there goes a saying, Failures are the stepping stones to success. Attempting to make up for the failure would enhance my personality in terms of desperately trying to reach to achieve success. On the contrary, lackadaisical attitude upon receiving the award of Employee of the month would be my over-confidence, which would compel me to encounter negative results. For gaining energy and improving concentration, listening to light music can be beneficial. Along with this, doing exercises in the morning would help to remain fit, reducing the chances of me falling sick. Here, maintaining a healthy lifestyle is very important in order to prove my contribution towards workplace as well as personal life. References and bibliography Aifs.gov.au (2017). Social Media

Introduction Advancement in technology has provided an opportunity for the development of new forms of technologies. Social media, which has become a reality through the employment of technology, is a term used to refer to various internet networks that allow people to interact, as well as share ideas and opinions in different remote locations.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Social Media specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Examples of these social media include facebook, twitter, MySpace, and LinkedIn amongst others. Social media has revolutionalized the way people interact. Social Network It is only around 40 years since digital technology was invented. However, the changes that have been experienced are overwhelming. One of the potentials that digital media has realized is in its social network. This platform has turned the world into a global village besides making life much easier as people can communicate and interact anywhere in real time. The first kind of network was Myspace.com. Thomas Anderson and Chris Dewolfe created this network in August 2003 (Khristopher, 2008, p. 24). Since its creation, it has attracted approximately 200 million users in America and worldwide. Users can use their email addresses to post pictures, videos, and information about their personal status and issues in life such as political affiliation, hobbies, careers, marital status, and annual incomes just to point a few. Facebook Another social media that has become popular is facebook. Mark Zuckerberg, Dustin Moskovitz, and Chris Hughes created this network (Khristopher, 2008, p. 25). The three were students at the Harvard University when they came up with this idea. They successfully managed to launch the network in their dormitories at the University. At that moment, they targeted University students since the network was applicable or operational on a college-administered email address for registration. In 2006, the creators successfully managed to roll out their network to worldwide users who had an e-mail account (Khristopher, 2008, p. 24). When facebook allowed users to open their facebook account, News Corp had acquired MySpace.Advertising Looking for essay on communications media? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More Then, it had captured 106 million users. Other networks began to surface, which included blogs, LinkedIn, and twitter among others. As technology advanced, these networks have been used to link people in different areas of the world. The users of facebook can create their own profiles that are customized with facts and any information they want. Photos can also be attached to the profiles. They enhance the interface besides adding aura in the interaction process. The users of the platform have continued to expand over time. The major use of these networks was to communicate and share opinions and ideas. However, as the digital technology continues to advance, users have also expanded. The platform enables them to interact and make new friends. Many people have met friends through the networks that have influenced their lives positively. According to Ingrid (2010), facebook has provided an opportunity for people to meet with different people from different cultural backgrounds (p. 265). The platform has changed the lives of many across the world. A good example is Sarah Fielding, a social worker. The platform helped her develop her writing skills that elevated her towards becoming a good writer. She received support and motivation through a friend in the social media who advised and trained her to become a good writer (Ingrid, 2010, p. 265). This move is therefore a clear indication of the magnitude these social media are doing to the society. Twitter Sacks and Graves (2012) affirm that the complexities in the network diffusion require that students be trained on social media usage (p. 80). Tw itter is one of the social media networks that are popular among students. However, many of these students lack skills and knowledge to use the platform in their interaction. For instance, one of the benefits of twitter is that it allows users to send their messages quickly. Users need to keep their message short and precise because the word limit is 140 characters. Therefore, having knowledge on such attributes ensures that the networks are used well in the required manner. These networks may be abused or used in the wrong way that may cause career-damage to the students. This may arise due to issues such as using the platform for finding opposite sex friends and or communicating about immoral messages. Therefore, education is paramount.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Social Media specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Advantages of the Social Media A message can be transmitted to many users within few seconds. This has therefore helped to speed up communication. In the past, communication that involved two parties at a distant arrived late. Sometimes, the message became obsolete upon arrival (Brydon, 2010, p. 6). This platform has changed this case. Nowadays, companies are using the platform to market their products to potential customers across the world. This stands out as a strategy that many companies have resorted to due to low cost, higher transmission speed, and the huge number of people who are accessing the internet and using the social media. Social Media Issues: Is it Secure? Even as the popularity of these social media increases, many questions have arisen concerning the security of using the networks (Abbe, 2011, p. 34). The identity of the account holder is one of the issues that raise concerns. Many cyber crimes are omitted using information from facebook. For example, a person can impersonate another and solicit money from the unsuspecting users. These cases have been on the r ise since the networks emerged. An individual can create an account with false information. This has made people commit crimes of all manners in the social media. Another issue that has arisen is whether a journalist or any third party has the prerogative to use information of an individual posted on the profile (Khristopher, 2008, p. 24). The issue is unclear. It has stirred mixed reactions from members of the public. Those opposed argue that the consent of the person should be granted before using such information. On the other hand, those proposing argue that, once an individual has decided to post information on the profile, the information can be used by anybody. Social Media: Its Impact to People’s Lives These platforms therefore have both advantages and disadvantages that need to be looked into to ensure that they provide better services without risking or putting the life or the identity of an individual at risk. In the digital technology, most networks in social medi a came into the limelight in 2003. Since then, the number has increased at a tremendous rate (Khristopher, 2008, p. 24). The coming of this media was right because this was the time that the living standards of people had gone down due to economic problems. They have made communication easier and cheap as people can socialize and share information across the world in any location.Advertising Looking for essay on communications media? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More The technology was the right initiative that resonated with the current living styles among many young people who are always optimistic wanting to learn more about what is happening across the world. This social media has turned the dreams of such young people into reality as they can learn and share what is happening around the world at their homes in real time. The creators of these networks therefore provide motivation to millions of young people who indeed can explore opportunities in digital technology to innovate new technologies to spur economy forward (Moore, 2010, p. 179). The outcome of these technologies has also motivated the creators to aspire for more ways of making them even better. The networks have rocked the world: they have reshaped the way people communicate and share information. How Technology Influences the Development of Social Media Emerging digital technologies played a fundamental role in the development of social networks. The creators used the existing t echnologies in coming up with their own technologies. For instance, the three creators of facebook used the existing college email account to enable fellow students to register and share information amongst them. Therefore, the available technologies were fundamental in bringing the ideas of the social networks into reality. The internet platform was already in operation. Therefore, they pegged their ideas on such platforms in coming up with the idea of social media such as MySpace, LinkedIn, and facebook amongst others (Khristopher, 2008, p. 25). What to put in Place to Improve Social Media Services Social media is an important case in the development of digital technology that is worth studying. Already, various researchers have begun their studies on social networks. The platforms required a lot of understanding to ensure that they are used appropriately for good and not destructive reasons. The potential of technology to cause harm is evident. Therefore, a study on the best stra tegies to curb such loopholes is important. As far as I am concerned based on my experience with the use of social media, there are various things that need to be looked into to ensure that the media does not cause harm to the users. Security measures should be enhanced. Information requested by the service providers should be kept confidential to avoid access by third parties. This stands out as one of the fundamental things that need to be looked into in the future to guarantee security when it comes to the use of these social media. Furthermore, there should be precise international laws and regulations that concern the use of media. People should not use the platform to cause animosity or mayhem with others. Such communication should be tracked with the culprits being identified and persecuted. The increased rate of user-falsifying personal information should be factored in. These issues, if corrected, will influence the future of social media positively. People innovate through various ways. Some innovate through default, others do it through research while others too invent through experience. Conclusion In conclusion, advancement in technology has changed the way people carry out their businesses. The creators of these network technologies like facebook and MySpace had an idea of what they wanted to achieve. Therefore, they finally managed to succeed in fulfilling their dreams. Therefore, through the social media, the digital world is one of the highest achievements that technology has brought. People can share information, photos, research, entertainment, market their business, and any other activity that the platform can support. The innovation was appropriate and important. However, there is still the need for more efforts to ensure that these platforms are well managed to guarantee their future reliance. Reference List Abbe, E. (2011). The buzz on social media. The Classic Style in Mississippi and Innocents Abroad Essay - 1

The Classic Style in Mississippi and Innocents Abroad - Essay Example Classic style is the preferred style since it makes people earn frequently than the school style. Writers in Mississippi and innocents abroad practice the classic style in their articles. For instance, Mark Twain is one of the writers abroad that employ this type of writing. Comparably, classic style employs equity between the writer and audience. The writer is equal to the task and delivers as if he is part of theaudience. In school style, the writer and the audience are never equal (Loewe par. 4). The writer is to perform a task as a duty but not out of interest and willingness to do so. For instance, it is a rule to fill the required number of pages while writing in school type. Classic style therefore enables the writer to take part in facilitating a character trait in a piece of work. Mark Twain in his book describes himself from page to page and the readers fill like taking part in his life. The readers are able to share the understanding that the writer has over an article for the sole purpose of lucidity, confidence, and wish. It is also clear that use of classic style involves more fun since it is done out interest but not writing to fulfill a task given. Mark Twain shares his views of Mississipiriver in a hilarious way that one cannot imagine to hate the book ( Loewe par. 6). Effectively, the readers who pin point the weaknesses determine performance of the writer. A person writes what he can only read and avoids what he cannot read and understand to enhance his clarity and relevance. There is nothing regrettable that is, not a magic bullet in classic writing. A person is able to revise his work and identifies the mistakes, he also finds out the topic discussed to maintain the relevance of the article. Loewe (par. 5) opines that classic writing does not subject the writers to skim over the topic simply because of clarity but warrants a chance to observe effective communication skills to deliver to different audience. The writer becomes the primary sou rce of information hence trust and reliability remains the main pillars of a credible writer. In conclusion, it is therefore clear that people living along Mississippi river and abroad use classic style to write their articles.

Jason and demarco Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Jason and demarco - Essay Example Although unorthodox, this brief analysis will work to examine Jason and DeMarco’s ministry as a function of how it compares to the mores of mainline Christianity and how it might differ. In order to accomplish such a task, the author has pulled together resources from Jason and DeMarco’s own website, their biography as expounded upon in a July 2004 issue of The Advocate, as well as selected works from their own discography and select music videos in the hopes of better understanding how they relate to mainstream Christianity. The clear and obvious fact of the matter is that this duo is most differentiated by the fact that they are a homosexual couple; while at the same time they are a musical group that works to promote the love of Christ throughout the communities they serve. Although Jason and DeMarco describe their spiritual mission as concentric upon witnessing to and spreading the word of God within the LGBT community, the group appeals to Christians of all sexual orientations as well. From a standpoint of their ministry, the most positive factor is that the duo has not let their homosexuality serve as a reason for not pursuing their faith. In a way, Jason and DeMarco are pioneers in this regard due to the fact that discrimination and early trials would have been enough to discourage anyone for continuing to align themselves with such a group that provided such high levels of judgment and non-acceptance as did those Christian groups that Jason and DeMarco were originally associated with (Quittner 36). However, rather than letting this be a discouragement, the duo forged ahead and sought to find an outlet in which they could both share their love for one another while at the same time pursuing their mutual passion of spreading the love of God. Similarly, a secondary positive factor relates to the fact that the message of love and acceptance that Christianity portends to all mankind is equally encapsulated in the ministry of Jason and DeMarco. Although this may seem incongruous to many Christians, the fact of the matter is that these two are furthering the very same Christ-like virtues that are intended to be spread by the church on earth according to Christ’s own teachings. Although many Christians might not accept their lifestyle (CITE), the fact remains that the duo are promoting the same type of love and acceptance that Christ himself ministered to during His time on earth. With respect to a negative aspect of their spiritual mission, the author finds it somewhat troubling that their ministry is so focused and concentric around the relationship that the two share with one another. Although this is doubtless a defining characteristic of the duo, it may not necessarily be the best vehicle with which to approach the focus of their ministry. As Christ should necessarily be the central focus of their musical ministry, it is somewhat distracting that the types of performance, music videos, and copious articles that a re written on the duo are almost entirely focused upon the fact that they are a gay couple who happens to be contemporary Christian performers. Perhaps a better model would be for the group to market and bill themselves as contemporary Christian performers who just so happen to share a homosexual lifestyle together. Although most of this press attention is not

Current Political Dimensions and Issues of Globalization Essay Example for Free

Current Political Dimensions and Issues of Globalization Essay Globalization refers to those processes whereby geographically distant events and decisions impact to a growing degree on â€Å"local† university life. Also it can be viewed as link towards the growth of social interconnectedness across existing geographical and political boundaries. Globalization is the process of increasing interconnectedness interdependent ness of people and places as a result of improved transport and communication and information technologies that ensures countries stay together as one community. In globalization, political, economic, social, religious and cultural issues usually interplay in producing a globalize world.    The world is becoming one. most contemporary social theorists endorse the view that globalization refers to fundamental changes in the spatial and temporal contours of social existence, according to which the significance of space or territory undergoes shifts in the face of a no less dramatic acceleration in the temporal structure of crucial forms of human activity. Geographical distance is typically measured in time. (Brawley, 2002) The world’s globalization can be traced back to many decades when different countries of the world saw the need to have globalization of the economy, politics, and societies, religious through the creation of links that will ensure that there is coordination in all the aforementioned aspects that form the basis of any country. There has been great integration in the economic sector among countries in, this is what is commonly referred as economic globalization. The fast economic growth among many countries in the world can be attributed to globalization. This implies that globalization has helped reduce poverty in many developing counties. Western political theory has traditionally presupposed the existence of territorially bound communities, whose borders can be more or less neatly delineated from those of other communities. The contemporary liberal politics has it that to speak of bounded communities whose fundamental structure consists of self-sufficient schemes of cooperation for all the essential purposes of human life. (David, 1995) The current political issues in any given country are based on how to achieve and utilize globalization.   Most of the countries have resolved to form partnerships with most of the countries in the world so as to integrate their resources geared towards high production. The whole process of globalization promotes proper and easy access to the world market among the partners.   This role is played by internationals organizations that have tried to promote liberal markets. For instance business people on different continents now engage in electronic commerce; television allows people situated anywhere to observe the impact of terrible wars being waged far from the comfort of their living rooms; academics make use of the latest video conferencing equipment to organize seminars in which participants are located at disparate geographical locations; the Internet allows people to communicate instantaneously with each other notwithstanding vast geographical distances separating them. (Burchill Linklater, 1996). The whole process of globalization has its own challenges where the poor countries are not able to compete effectively in the world markets and as such the poor countries are unable to have economic growth.   There is great disparity between the developed and the developing countries and this is also inherent to the people of these countries where we have a big imbalance between the poor and the rich. Due to the process of globalization countries have a challenge on how to have political shifts that will enhance their global growth.   The political shift usually twisted towards the stakeholders of globalization. Corruption fighting is the key issue towards globalization for any country. Covering a wide range of distinct political, economic, and cultural trends, the term globalization has quickly become one of the most fashionable buzzwords of contemporary political and academic debate. In popular discourse, globalization often functions as little more than a synonym for one or more of the following phenomena: the pursuit of classical liberal free market policies in the world economy economic liberalization, the growing dominance of different forms of political, economic, and cultural life. The proliferation of new information technologies such as the Internet as well as the notion that humanity are in the anticipation of   realizing one single unified community in which major sources of social conflict have vanished through global integration. (David 1995) Ultimately globalization has been achieved through technological advancements.   It is a main challenge in the process of globalization as many counties are lagging behind in terms of technological advancements that are meant to promote fast and effective communication as well as boost high production.   The process of achieving the international development goals pays more emphasizes on reducing poverty levels in countries of the world by promoting sustainable growth by empowering the poor people. Globalization is just an opportunity that is associated with risks at the national and international level. One of the issues that has emitted from globalization is that there is freedom of movement which has made developed countries hire labour from lower cost countries this making the citizens of the country to lose their jobs.   It end result of this is that the country is focusing on its development. But globalization can not be dismissed at all but what is important is to lay good enabling structures that can enhance both an individual development as well as the country development.   This can only be done by putting in place good governance. Generally, globalization poses risks and challenges, but so far it has become a stabilizing force in Philippine politics. (Robertson, 1992) This is the only way the government could make serious headway in the fight against joblessness and poverty. There are indications that most of those uprisings in the past were supported by the business elite. They are concentrated in the banking, real estate, export, and trading. Most of these sectors now are raking in money from overseas remittances, outsourcing, and recovering exports. It means they now have a stake in the stability of the system. People in the world are encouraged to think as citizens of nations and as well global citizens if the global agenda is to be achieved.   Globalization is a force that is attaching people of countries in the world and as such globalization is the way forward. Generally, globalization is characterized by free market, new technologies internet revolution.   Due to this increased technologies little time is required to connect different geographical locations.   This has helped in reducing the issues of national boundaries as people can communicate without necessarily crossing over the national boundaries.   Many social activities can take place in the world without necessary considering the geographical location of the participants. This is done through telecommunication, digital computers, audiovisual media and this occurs everywhere in the contemporary world.   (Schorte, 1996).  Ã‚   Business is done through electronics, televisions. This has promoted both social and economic interconnectedness across the political and geographical boundaries.   This means that technical disregard to geographical boundaries is a major issue towards globalization. High speed technology plays a very crucial role in the process of globalization.   This is another issue that is hindering the achievement of globalization.   This is because most of the world’s countries and are not moving as per the dynamisms of technology thus creating slow inter border speed movements. (Scheuerman,2004) The high speed technologies minimize the significance of distance and as a result improving the interconnectedness. But in those areas where deterritorialization and social interconnectedness across national borders are especially striking, new transnational institutions (for example, cross-border referenda), along with a dramatic strengthening and further democratization of existing forms of supranational authority (in particular, the United Nations), are necessary if we are to assure that popular sovereignty remains an effective principle. Globalization guarantees sustainable competitiveness through leadership of technological improvements.   The attraction of many countries in need of investment has promoted the growth of economies in most countries that embrace globalization.   Good examples are the recent joint ventures of China with Japanese companies where the Chinese get skills directly by working the Japanese. High-speed technologies and organizational approaches are employed by transnational operating firms, the so-called â€Å"global players,† with great effectiveness. The emergence of â€Å"around-the-world, around-the-clock† financial markets, where major cross-border financial transactions are made in cyberspace at the blink of an eye, represents a familiar example of the economic face of globalization. (Mark Interline 2001) How Philippines is integrated in international economy at the global community. Philippines as far as the globalization is concerned is rated in the semi-globalize world.   The country has not achieved completely what it takes for a country to be globalized.   It is lacking integrated markets and economies with other countries.   This because it has not taken advantage of across borders integration.   Low cross borders coordination reduces the economic share activities which have an effect of reducing fast economic growth.   Philippines have now a new political shift aimed at promoting its economic growth.   One of the main issues of promoting globalization is through democratization.   This is an aspect that has been missing in Philippines, there is a tendency the country believing that poor countries should not depend on the foreign capital and for this reason the country believes in regional issues of development. Philippine is the latest country to be accepted in the global alliance nations sharing global information and economies.   The country’s software sector has greatly grown giving it advantage in global information technology.   In the year 2006, Philippines had established software innovation which aimed at creating a global centre of information.   The process of software innovation is based on good relations with other countries that have advanced technology.   This procedure has promoted individuals business within the integrated countries.   A good example is stag Philippines Company that developed an innovative online registration system for one of the domestic airlines, this is a positive movement towards globalizations. The country has moved from the traditional of doing things to the scientific and technological revolutions.   Philippines has achieved great integration in East Asia with countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand.   This form of regional integration has promoted free market within the area hence improved economies. Globalization refers to increased possibilities for action between and among people in situations where latitudinal and longitudinal location seems immaterial to the social activity at hand. Even though geographical location remains crucial for many undertakings (for example, farming to satisfy the needs of a local market), deterritorialization manifests itself in many social spheres.. Territory in the sense of a traditional sense of a geographically identifiable location no longer constitutes the whole of â€Å"social space† in which human activity takes places. In this initial sense of the term, globalization refers to the spread of new forms of non-territorial social activity (Fred, 1998) There are great challenges for the government in trying to harmonize governance especially when there is integration of business bodies with other countries.   The process of liberalization and democratization enables the more advanced countries to take advantage of the free market.   The more developed countries use this opportunity in getting more profits which they take to their rich countries.   There is power mixing for the government as it not possible to control all the power diffusion. Each manifestation of globalization also generates distinct conflicts and dislocations. For example, there is substantial empirical evidence that cross-border flows and exchanges, as well as the emergence of directly transnational forms of production by means of which a single commodity is manufactured simultaneously in distant corners of the globe, are gaining in prominence (Castells, 1996). The whole process of Philippines involvement in international and global community is that the developed countries in term s of service provision on the onset there is un equal competition for the integrated market which the developed countries stand a better chance to exploit.   Despite the lower levels of poverty in most states, there is a general inequality in the overall income among the citizens. The inequality in Philippines occurs especially between rural and urban areas.   This has led to economic stagnation and civil instability which threatens the goal of reducing poverty by globalization.   Other places are overpopulated causing strain on the meager natural resources.   The fact that Philippines has moved global has not solved the internal disparities which threaten to increase poverty levels. The government has a great challenge of implementing certain agreements with the international community.   Such international conventions are so demanding in terms of implementation within the country.   When these legal conventions are integrated to the country they have the capacity to weaken the internal structures of the country. As an empirical matter, the decay of the domestic-foreign frontier seems highly ambivalent, since it might easily pave the way for the decay of the more attractive attributes of domestic political life: as â€Å"foreign† affairs collapse inward onto â€Å"domestic† political life, the relative lawlessness of the former potentially makes disturbing inroads onto the latter (Scheuerman, 2004) The government is also challenged by the rapidly expanding flow of goods services information and people which makes the country to be more interdependent.   This requires that the country sets global consensus to meet these challenges. Globalization-from-above is controlled by wealthy elites and driven by a hunger for more wealth and power. But there is another form of globalization in the Philippines that is made up of grassroots alliances of human rights activists, trade unions, womens organizations, and environmental coalitions and farmers’ organizations. This form of globalization however does not get as much publicity as the elite form of globalization but it is growing just as rapidly. The institutions such as the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and transnational corporations have assisted in development and the integration of the world’s countries into the global system. The cross-boarder issues that require joint efforts have been very difficult for the Philippine government to manage.   Areas that require regional cooperation include drug supply reduction, prevention of HIV/AIDS, fight against illegal drugs.   Lack of such support has been a great set back to the government. Critics insist that local, regional, and national forms of self-government are being rapidly supplanted by insufficiently democratic forms of global governance remote from the needs of ordinary citizens, whereas their defenders describe new forms of supranational legal and political decision as indispensable forerunners to more inclusive and advanced forms of self-government. Global financial markets also challenge traditional attempts by liberal democratic nation-states to rein in the activities of bankers, spawning understandable anxieties about the growing power and influence of financial markets over democratically elected representative institutions Globalization has an effect on Philippines culture and traditions as the society’s norms and values as subject to change.   There are many ways in which the globalization may finally erode the cultural values of the people due to the volatile socialization a contribution of market liberalization and democratization. Market liberalization and the democratization has continued to adversely contributed to the deceleration in growth rate of the country because of the worsening terms of trade between the integrated countries and Philippines. There is a weak growth of exports to the developed countries but rather there are a big number of imports to the country. This means that the country spends more money to the outside countries than what it receives.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   There is a need for the developed countries to have a positive shift towards assisting the developing countries. This can be done by the removal of trade barrier to the developing countries. Philippine’s economy has been growing at 4-6% GDP due to the growth of the robust sector. Electrons and semiconductors contribute greatly to the country’s exports. There is variety of market for the Philippines products due to the globalization. A global citizen in this country is encouraged to participate actively by taking advantage of the available opportunities: outsourcing is an outcome of technological advancements. For instance, many people in the Philippines start their work at 9pm till five in the morning. Such jobs include call centers. This industry of out sources is growing at 57%per year. The Philippines has low or more open economy, a contribution of the economic reforms done as well as moving global. The linking together and expanding of social activities across borders is predicated on the possibility of relatively fast flows and movements of people, information, capital, and goods. Without these fast flows, it is difficult to see how distant events could possibly posses the influence they now enjoy. High-speed technology plays a pivotal role in the velocity of human affairs. But many other factors contribute to the overall pace and speed of social activity.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   Globalization has completely changed the political and social situation of the country. The current crop of politicians believes that the future of the country depends on global connectivity and it is for this reason they support global dynamics and global competitiveness. The democratic model has been used in Philippines in the process of creating alliances with other countries. According to one influential strand within international relations theory, relations between states are fundamentally lawless. Since the achievement of justice or democracy, for example, presupposes an effective political sovereign, the lacuna of sovereignty at the global level means that justice and democracy are necessarily incomplete and probably unattainable there. In this â€Å"Realist† view of international politics, core features of the modern system of sovereign states relegate the pursuit of western political thoughts most noble normative goals primarily to the domestic arena. Other critics has that the dangers of global economy is that investors come into a particular country, present certain conditions and government often accept them without asking the people who will be affected, which is a violation of workers rights. It often happens under such deals when state companies are bought over by foreign companies, thousands of workers are laid off under so called structural adjustment program to cut the cost, while workers are pushed for longer hours and prohibited from labor unions. The whole purpose behind this way of working is exploitation of the foreign market to gain greater profit. Globalization is part of the changing world, but the way it is coming in developing countries lacks humanity. Contemporary analysts associate globalization with deterritorialization, according to which a growing variety of social activities takes place irrespective of the geographical location of participants. As Jan Aart Scholte observes, â€Å"global events can via telecommunication, digital computers, audiovisual media, rocketry and the like occur almost simultaneously anywhere and everywhere in the world. (Scholte Aart, 1996) In conclusion globalization is the way forward for Philippine’s economic and political growth. Technology is the key to the achievement of the globalization process and it is therefore very important for any country to embrace technological changes in order to be complacent with the fast changes in the world. A country that will not embrace technological changes is like lag behind in matters of development. Increased communication is panacea of any expanding economy as this promotes sharing of the international nature. Expanding free market promotes greater exchange of skills which has a net effect of improving the economy in terms of the factors maximizing the factors of production such as capital, land, entrepreneurship. Outsourcing is the contemporary form of globalization that is practiced in the contemporary Philippine and this has led to the improved social relation among the regional countries. Integration of different companies which produce similar products has enhanced the exchange of technologies by the virtue of direct contact. Finally globalization has reduced the social boundaries as well the geographical barriers and now people are staying as one big community. From Cain and Abel to Serial Killers Essay -- Exploratory Essays Resea

From Cain and Abel to Serial Killers      Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   Jeffrey Dahmer, John Wayne Gacy, Mark Allen Smith, Richard Chase, Ted Bundy-the list goes on and on. These five men alone have been responsible for at least ninety deaths, and many suspect that their victims may total twice that number. They are serial killers, the most feared and hated of criminals. What deep, hidden secret makes them lust for blood? What can possibly motivate a person to kill over and over again with no guilt, no remorse, no hint of human compassion? What makes a serial killer?   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   Serial killings are not a new phenomenon. In 1798, for example, Micajah and Wiley Harpe traveled the backwoods of Kentucky and Tennessee in a violent, year-long killing spree that left at least twenty-and possibly as many as thirty-eight-men, women, and children dead. Their crimes were especially chilling as they seemed particularly to enjoy grabbing small children by the ankles and smashing their heads against trees (Holmes and DeBurger 28). In modern society, however, serial killings have grown to near epidemic proportions. Ann Rule, a respected author and expert on serial murders, stated in a seminar on serial murder at the University of Louisville that between 3,500 and 5,000 people become victims of serial murder each year in the United States alone (qtd. in Holmes and DeBurger 21). Many others estimate that there are close to 350 serial killers currently at large in our society (Holmes and DeBurger 22).   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   Fascination with murder and murderers is not new, but researchers in recent years have made great strides in determining the characteristics of criminals. Looking back, we can see how naà ¯ve early experts were in their evaluations; in 1911, for example, Italian crimin... ...words of Ted Bundy, one of the most ruthless serial killers of our time: "Most serial killers are people who kill for the pure pleasure of killing and cannot be rehabilitated. Some of the killers themselves would even say so" (qtd. in Holmes and Deburger 150). Works Cited Biondi, Ray, and Walt Hecox. The Dracula Killer. New York: Simon, 1992. Davis, Ron. Exim Policy India Analysis Essay

EXIM policy should be more transparent which should favour export environment The EXIM policy (Foreign trade policy) was announced on 27th August 2009 for the period 2009-2014. It was announced at a juncture when the world was recuperating from the economic downturn. The downturn had caused a sharp contraction in international trade and adversely impacted global investments. The world trade suffered a drastic reduction of 12%. In this context, the EXIM policy focussed on arresting declining exports. Market diversification strategy was adopted in order to reach out to non traditional destinations in Africa ,Latin America and Asia since there was a sharp decline in demand in the traditional market. Technological up gradation of exports was encouraged and transaction procedures were simplified to reduce costs. Other steps planned wee to concentrate on Labour intensive sectors and the draft policy parameters to enhance the competitiveness of our exports by promoting technology upgrades. A Committee of Experts was constituted to revamp the procedures of transactions and administer the value chain of exports. Amidst the current global economic turmoil, the Indian government should take prudent steps to avoid the recurrence of another recession. In light of the recent developments, the EXIM policy should encourage exports and stimulate international trade. While, the current EXIM policy mentions a considerable emphasis on exports, a detailed check is required if the trade is actually adhering to the policies framed and if the transparency is being maintained in the transactions. a) Currency printing should be done by private top 3 financial institutions in the country. The Reserve Bank of India manages the currency in the country with the help of the advice from the government of India. RBI distributes notes and rupee coins to other bank branches through certain selected currency chest branches. Printing additional currency should be done in a controlled manner since it can have a great impact on the economy. India can’t merely print additional currency to meet public expenditure unless it is a time of extreme financial crisis. This method of increasing liquidity in the market is called Quantitative Easing and happens when the Central bank fails to inject liquidity in the system by lowering interest rates. This is mainly done to prevent deflation. However, uncontrolled printing of money causes inflation and can lead to hyper inflation in extreme cases. RBI uses three main factors are used to estimate the demand for bank notes – current growth rate of economy, replacement demand and reserve requirements. During the time of recession, it is all the more important to be prudent on printing money since the economy is on a decline and it becomes imperative to control inflation. Hence, monitoring the currency printing is of utmost importance and this can be achieved by allowing only the top 3 private financial institutions in the country. a) FDI should be allowed in multi brand so as to eliminate intermediaries and benefit farmers and industries directly. It will help in curbing inflation. FDI in multi brand retail should be encouraged since it would contribute extensively in the growth of the economy. It would improve the availability of high quality goods and create an environment of competitiveness in Indian entrepreneurs by giving exposure to global management practices. It would also encourage better technology and enhance efficiencies. However, the policy should be implemented within the purview of the state laws and regulations. This would ensure that there is no anti- competitive practices including predatory pricing. Investments in terms of FDI in retail would in turn help in developing the infrastructure of the country in terms of supply chain and logistics. This would also eliminate intermediaries and benefit farmers and industries directly. This strategy would greatly help in controlling recession since this help in generating demand at the low income level and eventually would eliminate the income divide. It would also curb inflation in an efficient manner. a) More emphasis should be given on R& D of capital goods which are prima facie being produced by developed economies. The profits of the capital goods sector is directly linked with the profits of the entire Indian industry. This is further corroborated by the high elasticity behavior of Capital goods industry to the fluctuations in the industry growth. One of the key stimulators for demand in the capital goods sector is the manufacturing sector which forms the end user of these goods. Another stimulator for the demand is the gross investment made in this sector by the country. It is important to have a good demand for the Capital goods since its consumption constitutes 17-21 percent of the GDP of the country. However, the investments in this sector have declined when compared to other sectors. Hence, more emphasis on the investment and R&D of capital goods will provide considerable boost to the GDP of the country and in turn help in curbing recession. This is one of the most effective ways to control recession. a) Government should spend in agro based economies like Africa to have favourable terms for import of agriculture products. Although imports of agricultural products form a very small percentage of the total imports, the import duties and countries of trade pose significant hurdles. The current import statistics of various agricultural products are as follows. The total agri imports are in the range of 4-7 percent of the total imports. Edible oil accounts for more than 50% of the agri imports. Raw cashew nut accounts for about 10 percent of the agri imports. Other agricultural products imported are – cereals, pulses, spices, sugar chicken meat etc .However, these form a very low percentage of the agri imports and are imported in climatically abnormal years. Government should put extensive effort to build ties with agro based economies like Africa which would help reducing the expenditure on agricultural imports. This in-turn would help in maintaining the balance even in adverse years when domestic production fails to fulfill the demand. This gap between demand and supply in a bad year is one of the root causes of creating a recession. Hence, this is a cost effective alternative to fulfill this supply and curb the occurrence of a recession.
